Weeki Wachee Springs and Preserve

Weeki Wachee Springs and Preserve
Weeki Wachee Springs is a themed water park for the whole family offering a variety of fun and educational entertainment. Open from 9am to 5:30pm daily, the park is a steal with ticket prices of $13 for adults, $8 for children 6 to 12 and $0 for children under 6.

Although Weeki Wachee may not have Disney World’s rollercoasters, it has an impressive selection of activities including various flume rides, beach volleyball, a white sand beach for swimming or building sand castles, a children’s pool, a reptile show, and a river boat ride.

However, the park is most famous for the many mermaids that enjoy this spring fed park. Weeki Wachee’s famous mermaids have been delighting children and adults since the 1947. The mermaids are skilled divers who swim between 16 and 20 feet under the water waving to viewers who can admire the spring and its residents through an underwater observation seating area. The underwater theatre seating can fit 500 people who come to watch the mermaids perform synchronized ballets and other entertainment. Other enchanting wildlife in the park includes a family of peacocks, turtles, fish, manatees, otters and sometimes an alligator.

Unlike the Weeki Wachee Springs Theme Park, the Weeki Wachee Preserve is a very mild attraction where the natural beauty of Florida shines through. The preserve includes a variety of wildlife habitats including wooded and near marine swap lands. Popular activities in the preserve include birding, boating, paddling, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, bicycling and having picnics.
